 Is
this the campest birthday card ever? All silver foil and pink fur, it was sent
to me by my sister.
My birthday was uneventful. But thanks to everyone who sent me their best wishes.
I think I've replied to all now. I wasn't dropping hints last weekend -- honest!
BUSY WEEK
My friend Neil arrived here the other night with a friend of his, who took a shine
to me. We found we both have an interest in the history of the city centre area
and we ended up visiting the local history library together on Friday. I sure
know how to show a man a good time!
Plus I met my new neighbour, who is gay. In fact, my neighbours on the other side
are too. We reckon at least 25% of the people who live in this block are bent
;-)
Phew! It's been a busy week for work. I managed to update the site on Monday and
Wednesday and the rest of my free time has been spent learning some Javascript
(well, how to cut and paste it!) and looking into advertising and affiliate programmes.
'BORDER-ING' ON THE RIDICULOUS
I wanted to add some books to the site and applied to a place called Borders.com.
Anyway, they turned me down! Tell me... can you see anything particularly offensive
about this site? (FOOTNOTE: these were the days before I added the Adult
Section!).
It's sheer hypocrisy too, as the company actually sells pornographic gay
fiction!
Obviously they're happy for us to go to their site, search for gay porn, and to
spend our pink pounds with them. But apparently they don't want to be seen to
be associated with gay web sites.
The irony of it is, at the same time, I applied to a number of other companies,
which deal in goods as diverse as clothing, coffee, wholefoods and electrical
goods and they all approved my site!
By the way, if you're a webmaster too, you may like to sign-up with Linkshare (FOOTNOTE: sorry the link doesn't work anymore)
which I also found last week. It lets you deal with 400 online stores as an affiliate,
and all from one central point. A huge timesaver.
